What is a prototype for?

The prototype is a complete functional model of the new product and is used for testing it. Using the prototype, you can study the functionality of the product, check the operation of the systems, identify and correct deficiencies before the start of mass production.

Even when manufacturing a product using vacuum casting technology, a prototype is needed to create a flexible mold for plastic molding.

Ways to create a prototype in «MARABU»

  1. Printing on a 3D printer.

    To make a prototype, you need a 3D model of the product.

  2. CNC milling from a workpiece (bar).

    For the manufacture of the prototype requires preparation - bar.

  3. Metal milling.

  4. Making a prototype manually from model plastics, clay.

  5. Bonding from sheet materials.

    For the manufacture of the prototype, the following sheet materials are taken: plywood, MDF, acrylic, etc.

  6. Laser cutting of sheet materials.

  7. Bringing the finished part to the state of a new prototype by making changes to the part.

    Changes to the part are made by grinding, polishing, priming, adding / removing certain elements, gluing, milling, etc.

The simplest and most accurate way to make a prototype is to print on a 3D printer.

  • 3D-prototyping of products is considered one of the most important points in the development. Prototyping helps identify all product flaws and fix them.
  • Using the prototype, you can test the functionality of the product and analyze the assembly of parts and elements. The prototype is made on the basis of technical task, it is a full-sized functional presentation model.
  • After all the tests and adjustments to the prototype of the product, the approved version is being prepared for production at the following stages (production of a test sample, casting of a run).

Stages of creating a prototype product:

    Creating a 3D model of the future product

    After receiving all the documentation, the 3D designer begins work on the project. Using special programs(Solidworks, 3Ds Max, Maya) an exact model is created.

    The choice of prototype manufacturing method

    The third step is the choice of the prototype manufacturing parameter: 3D printing or milling. Depending on the purpose of the product, its size and characteristics.
