To understand the difference between prototype and master model, you need to know what a prototype is and how it is made. A prototype of a product is a prototype, which is a functional model of a new product made in full size and as close as possible in shape and material characteristics similar to a serial product.
The latest technologies make it possible quickly print a prototype from a computer-prepared 3D-model using a 3D-printer. The Marabu company use FDM and SLA printing technologies for this purpose.
Your idea has been transformed into reality. Now you can check the correctness of the technical solution, assembly, dimensional accuracy, the presence of shrinkage, adjust drawings and 3D-models. It is also possible to show the prototype to investors, to conduct an initial presentation of the product.
Next, it is necessary to refine the prototype - to eliminate the "steps" and "layers" of printing, unevenness, warping. Then, by priming, grinding, polishing and painting, bring the quality of the outer surfaces (smooth, matt, glossy, shagreen) to the appearance of a serial product. As a result of laborious and painstaking work, we will make a master model from a prototype for making a mold for casting.
Therefore, the creation of a master model is the most difficult stage in the technological chain of manufacturing a high-quality product. After the detail is printed on 3D-printer and then finalized, further casting of details costs several times cheaper than making them on a 3D-printer. At the same time, the quality of the outer surfaces of the details and the material will correspond as much as possible to serial products.
